Creamer
Creamer’s Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge in Fairbanks is a staging area for a variety of waterfowl (ducks, geese,
swans) and shorebirds during the spring migration (April 15-May 30), and to sandhill cranes and Canada geese during
the fall migration (August 10-Sept 30). The front parking lot overlooks one of two large viewing fields. In addition we
have more than a mile of handicapped accessible trails, one to a seasonal pond which is a favorite of ducks, geese and
shorebirds in the spring, and the other which offers a chance to see the boreal forest ecosystem and an open field
favored by sandhill cranes. The seasonal pond overlook has handicapped accessible telescopic viewers. Interpretive
signs are present at several accessible viewing platforms and along parts of the trail. Handicapped accessible
restrooms are also available.
Trails are open all summer, snow is usually gone by late April and arrives again in October.
